Senate Approves up to $300 Billion Foreclosure Relief - In an effort to stabilize the housing market, up to $4 Billion will be issued in grants to cities and states to buy foreclosed homes. Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac may receive $2.25 Billion lines of credit with the Treasury. A portion of the money will be used toward educating homeowners. Millions of dollars will be slated to help homeowners with short term mortgages refinance at a lower interest rate, if the home is worth less then the appraised value.
